Burning Brushes [Self Portrait]
Oil on Linen 72 x 64 "
© Tina Mion 2005
It often seems that I am really alive only
when I am lost in my work; that the act of painting creates a reality
more real than everyday existence. Sometimes I confuse the year
or season I am painting with the one I am living in. I have often
been startled to find out it isn’t 1942 or that Christmas
passed months ago. To show my split existence, there are two distinct
places in this painting: where I sit, and the painting / window
world behind, and there is no judgment on which has the greater
reality.
